Soho is the place to be for unforgettable nights out in the UK’s capital. But don’t be early. Jolien and I made the mistake to enter a bar at 8 o’clock. But it only started become crowded from 10. We obviously managed to claim a nice spot to sit.
And then happy hour started…
We had a few drinks and A LOT of fun. Some random English guys in suits joined our party and Jolien managed to claim his tie. She still has it. In contrast to happy hours in Belgium, the ones in London don’t have a specific beginning and end time, nor do you know how much cheaper your drinks are. When the bar decided to abruptly end happy hour and to charge a lot more for our drinks, we thought it was time to go.
Afterwards, we wanted to go back to the hotel by tube. However, the station at Piccadilly Circus was already closed. And then I got the idea to go back by bus… I can assure you, it’s not easy to figure out the bus network after some drinks. I don’t even think it’s simple while being sober.
We learned three valuable lessons:
• don’t be early
• always be careful while traveling
• make sure you have a back-up plan.
